Chair & Mat Yoga – Hip Strengthening
6 months after her hip surgery, Silvia came to me and started weekly private one-on-one sessions. Her goal was to gain strength and hip mobility back again.
I started our sessions with chair yoga, giving her gentle practice movements which were about strengthening her hips muscles. I also did breathe work with her. Soon after, I added standing and grounding yoga poses on the mat.
After 3 months of working together, Silvia got strength back in her hips and legs and was able to have a deeper hip opening on the mat. One year on, she is able to go on long walks with her dog and friends. Her mobility for yoga moves, such as getting down to the floor from standing to table pose, downward dog, and back up to standing pose is no longer of her issue. Now, she regularly practices with confidence and has been attending group yoga sessions. Silvia is much happier now and I am so pleased for her progress.

Chair & Mat Yoga – Sciatica
One of my yoga students recommended her partner Dan for Yoga one-on-one sessions with me. Dan hadn’t been able to work for 6 months due to severe sciatica resulting in a trapped nerve in his lower back. I could see it how it was affecting him from the way he walked.
After an assessment to confirm his medical issue, I provided Dan with some gentle moves for his connective tissue from lower back right to the bottom of legs for him to practice. In the next sessions, I added some more moves progressively for him to practice at home.
After up to 3 months of providing him yoga therapy support, his partner confirmed he had returned to work and continues to practice the movements from home.

Chair & Mat Yoga – Sciatic Syndrome
A health enthusiast and avid cyclist, Miranda had been suffering from Sciatic syndrome for a while. She explained how the sciatic nerves had been limiting her activity particularly with cycling.
I provided Miranda with some appropriate yoga moves to hold with releasing tension and strengthen the associated muscles. She attended my classes and practiced mat yoga on a regular basis.
After 6 months of yoga with me, she was able to cycle again and said she free of pain and was able to do her daily activities once again. She’s been practicing Hatha yoga with me for year and has been a dedicated client. I was very pleased with her results and that she was back to being able to cycle the way she had loved for so long.

Mat Yoga – Flexibility and Mobility Problems
Neil’s goal was to able to improve his general mobility and to be able to touch his toes, which was proving difficult due to being so tall. He said he found it really difficult to bend forward and down towards his toes.
I directed him to some yoga moves particularly to help strengthen the spine particular around the lumbar spine. These were practised on the mat and he attended regular classes with me.
Neil been able to touch his toes after around a year of regular practice and support.
